Building on St. John
There is no supply house down the road.
That one sentence explains most of what makes an island pool different. Every yard of material, every length of rebar, every pallet of tile arrives by barge. If an order is short, the fix is not a trip across town — it's another shipment and another week.
So island builds are won or lost on sequencing. We order and stage materials weeks ahead, plan deliveries around barge schedules, and hold enough on site that a single missed shipment doesn't stop the crew. We've been doing it since 2004, and it is the part of the job most mainland builders underestimate.
The second factor is access. Most St. John lots are steep, and the question is rarely whether a pool can go there — it's how equipment reaches the pad and how the hillside gets retained. We work that out before we quote, so the number you get accounts for the site you actually have.

Salt air changes the equipment conversation
Hardware that lasts a decade in Oklahoma has a shorter life a few hundred feet from the Caribbean. Rails, fasteners, light housings and equipment pads all corrode faster here. We specify for the environment rather than the catalog, and we tell you up front what will need replacing sooner than you'd expect.
Working around the season
Timing matters on island. Shipping, weather and the rental calendar all push against each other, and the right start date is often not the one you'd pick on a mainland schedule. We'll be straight with you about when to begin so the pool is finished when you actually want it.

Can you build on a steep hillside lot?
Yes — most St. John lots are steep, and hillside builds are the majority of our island work. The real question is equipment access and retention, not slope by itself. We work that out before quoting so the number reflects your actual site.
How do materials get here?
By barge, generally through St. Thomas. Orders are sequenced weeks ahead and staged on site. Getting that sequencing right is the single biggest factor in whether an island build stays on schedule.
How long does an island build take?
Longer than a comparable mainland pool, because of shipping and access. We'll give you a realistic schedule up front rather than an optimistic one you'll be disappointed by.
Do you work on rental villas?
Yes. Rental pools need durability, easy service access, and finishes that survive constant use. We can schedule work between bookings so you lose as few nights as possible.
What about salt-air corrosion?
It's real and it's faster than owners expect. We specify rails, fasteners and equipment for the environment, and we tell you honestly what will need replacing sooner here than it would stateside.
